Valentine's Day on the Go

Valentine's Day on the Go

Well today was the first Valentine’s Day without my husband, during our whole 15 years of marriage.  I am happy to say that I survived. I spent the day preparing our daughter for her first sweetheart and cooking a romantic dinner for my parents. I am use to my husband pampering me and me pampering him on Valentine’s Day. However, I found the enjoyment in bringing smile to other people face today.  Would I rather have had my husband here, sure I would but I was still able to find a way to use my time wisely. Plus my husband and I have a marriage where we know how to make each other feel like it is Valentine’s Day any day of the year. I think that is very important in a marriage. There is no need to just show it once a year show it all year long. Well for all of you those of you with marriages on the go, I pray you all had a Happy Valentines Day!!!

Children Always Notice

Children always seem to notice change in their parents even before the parent notices changes in themselves.  My 12 year old daughter took the time to try to set up my bedroom to be more relaxing to me, because she stated that I seem really sad and sometimes a little snippy since my husband has been on the road. And then my 16 year old said "you know momma she is right." It hurt my feelings not because they said it, but because I realize that they were right. I told myself I was going to make a conscious effort to act the same way I am when my husband is around. I don't want my kids seeing me sad or me being snippy with them, because they deserve the best. I also do not want them to have to feel that they have to take care of me, when it is my responsibility to take care of them. Plus the therapist side of me know that the stress of the parent can cause anxiety and stress for the children. If there are others of you who have had similar experiences please feel free to share in the comment area. I will love to hear from you.

Welcome to Marriage On the Go!!!!

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to my new blog. This blog deals with marriage and raising a family when one spouse is having to be on the go due to their job. I understand that in this economy that families have to do what they have to do to survive. I know this all too well, because my husband just made a career change to an OTR (Over the Road) truck driver. It has not been easy on him, me, or our kids being separated. However thanks to modern day technology we are surviving. I really think we can become the new spokes family for Skype.

When I originally thought about start this blog, I was going to do it specifically for OTR wives and families, but as I begin to think more about it I realized there were a lot of jobs out there that keep families separated for periods at time. Hey I live in a military town, so I see a lot of family separations every day. So my goal is to use this blog for myself and others as a sort of support group, if you or your spouse is having to be separated for any type of job.

I would love to share your stories and experiences along with mine on the blog, so if you a story you would like me to put in the blog you are welcome to contact me at marriageonthego@yahoo.com.
You can even contact me if you have topic for me to blog about. I look forward to hearing from everybody.
